That poor student didn’t know what to do.
Mrs. Clinton’s reaction to that reminded me of Mrs. Boxer’s reaction when she was lecturing the General about calling her “Senator” (which I will never do again).
Even a neophyte (who was truly a professional) would have realized that the student (a) truly was making a public speaking error and assuming that she would “speak for her husband” in which case she could have simply said, “I haven’t spoken with my husband about this, but let me share my own thoughts with you” or (b) she might have asked for clarification on the translation since it is possible that the translator made a mistake and should have said “President obama”.
Oh well. I always appreciate their efforts to be sure we know exactly who and what they are. No surprises, but the constant reminders are important, especially for those in the United States who still want to give them a pass with regard to their incompetence, arrogance and ignorance.
