I would agree, a per car setup. I am pretty sure our local county police here in Fairfax Co Va have similar rifles in the trunks already, as do quite a few other departments. They aren’t going to be walking around with them on slings during a traffic stop, as it seems to be lightly implied in the article. And as with most anti-gun advocates, a semi-automatic rifle is NOT an assault rifle. The first paragraph mentions they are seeking semi-auto versions. As for the citizens not being able to protect themselves with arms, that’s a whole other story.
