I do believe that those select few who use the inane birth certificate conspiracy as a means to question the president’s legitimacy are racist and use the conspiracy as a convenient cover because they are simply too cowardly to come out and say that they don’t think a black man ought to be president…

If Alan Keyes was president right now, there would be no flak from the right. However, the left would be marching on Washington, protesting the war in Afghanistan and calling for Keyes’ impeachment for one reason or another. Would they be doing this because they’re racists?
No. They would do it for the same reason the birthers are becoming rowdy – because Americans mistakenly see politics as the cause and the solution to all of their problems, and when their party is out of power, the losing team goes crazy.
