Fear and Self-Loathing at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival
I recall reacing about an (off Broadway ?) play that was in the works, celebrating Rachel Corrie and grandiosely affirming her gesture and (very likely) condemning those horrendous Israelis.
I don’t know whether or not that play was ever produced, but this film sounds like a similar effort.
Given what I learned of Rachel’s recruitment by the Palestinian organization, the International Solidarity Movement, (“dedicated to the destruction of the Jewish state”)an organization that specialized in recruiting naifs, given what I learned of Rachel’s own naiveté (she seemed sure her appeals to the US embassy would protect her from the advancing bulldozer, whose driver didn’t see her), given how the ISM crassly used Rachel’s death to the utmost for propaganda, given what I learned of her parents suing Caterpillar and, generally, blaming anyone and anything for their daughter’s stupid behaviors, I vowed then and there to never, ever be swayed by the theme of any film again
The real horror and tragedy of Rachel Corrie’s death is the vulgarity, crassness & inhumanity of the organization that recruited her and proceeded to, first, use her as a human shield and, second, as a martyr.
The best that can be said about the Jews and Jewish organizations who promote such trash and lies is that they are delusional.
