The battle over the Khalil Gibran School in Brooklyn, NY is not yet over. The original principal, Ms Almontaser, whose radical views brought attention to the school, has now taken her case to the courts. Ms. Almontaser claims to have been forced to resign and is suing in an attempt to regain her postition as principal. According the very sympathetic NY Times article on April 28,2008, Ms Almontaser is also still being paid by the NYC Board of Education. I should imagine her chances of reemerging as principal of the Khalil school or elsewhere in the system are sadly quite good.
