What needs to be done is for the US Bureau of Standards and the Federal Election Commission to sit down and come up with a hard to hack election system. Then there needs to a constitutional amendment passed that requires the states to use it.
The BIG mistake was back in the day when they changed the Senate from appointed to elected. Before the Senate was the playground of the rich and powerful. The spent their time scheming and plotting to get their buds in as Senator.
Once an Amendment was passed changing a Senator from appointed to elected to cut down on the skullduggery and blatant dishonesty involved in filling the Senate, the rich and powerful started scheming and plotting with the House too.
