P. Ami,

The difference is: when something significant is stolen a police report is filed. Which makes policing a whole lot easier.

You are correct there is no quality control on the black market. I hardly see that as a recommendation.

Might I add that it is easier for kids to get illegal drugs than it is for them to get a beer. So just how is it helping?

And that is not to even go into the self medication aspects of illegal drug use. But tell you what. Go to your local emergency room and ask the psychiatric intake nurse about illegal drugs. The medical profession understands what the general public seems ignorant of.

Or check out what the NIDA has to say about the genetic aspects of illegal drug use. We are targeting people who are genetically different. You would be outraged if we targeted insulin addicts because of their genetic defects. They have a deficiency problem. Illegal drug users are no different in that fundamental respect.

But genetics is only 1/2 the story. The other half of the trigger is trauma. So we are targeting the genetically different and the traumatized. Way to go. About 70% of female heroin users have been sexually molested. Male heroin users are 25 to 50 times more likely to have been abused than the general population.

A war on the abused. Great. Just great.

And it finances criminals and terrorists. The benefits are unending.
