Marc: Los Angeles had a long tradition of Japanese gardeners up to the early 197o’s. They were mostly second or third generation, in some cases the internees at Manzanar and other camps during WWII.
That all changed, the old Japanese-Americans retired and the young native Americans of Japanese heritage decided to become engineers and doctors and lawyers.
