Dave K.,
You really don’t understand anything, do you?
There have been no significant terrorist attacks on US soil since 9/11, on Bush’s watch. That’s seven and one half years. Obama has been on the job six months. Get back to us in seven years to crow about how much better than Bush Obama is on this matter.
As for “My Pet Goat”, what was Bush supposed to do when blindsided by an unexpected attack, while his aids got transportation ready to leave the school? Was he supposed to run around in a panic? Bush kept his cool and did not panic, and did not panic the children there. We may soon see how Obama performs under similar circumstances. I would not count on Mr. No-Experience performing any better, and probably will perform worse.
“George W. Bush could have ordered the US military to intensify the efforts to try and kill Osama Bin Ladin.
He had the entire US military at his disposal.”
You really don’t understand the nature of the war we are in. This is not like WWII, except in rare instances like the three week Iraq Campaign of 2003. It is a war of intel and special ops, coutnerinsurgency and understanding the tribal politics of exotic lands. When Bin Laden escaped into Pakistan there were only a couple of thousand US ground troops in Afghanistan able to try getting at him. Then he went to ground in Pakistan, where it was much harder for our intel to work and where we could not send large forces of American ground troops to fight. 25 years of Church Committee attacks on the CIA and the Clinton Administration’s gutting of the Clandestine Service during the 90s had left us with an intel organization that could not do the covert action job of finding and taking out bin Laden and similar low lifes in a foreign country in a hostile intel environment (the Northwest Frontier Province, where Pakistan government authority is feeble at best and nonexistent sometimes).
There is a lot Bush did that I do not approve of, but for his whole term, with rare exceptions, people like you attacked him unmercifully for anything he did, and particularly for his efforts to defend the USA. I don’t make a hero of Bush, but you and many people who ought to know better make a devil of him, and are making a deity of Obama. That is an act of surpassing idiocy. Wise up.
