Plus, you high-minded, tolerant, inclusive progressives snickered over the putative butt-grab photo of McCain at the debates. To quote the late-night comics when conservatives complained, “hey, can’t you take a joke?”
15: Indeed he did – thanks to a fiscally conservative congress at the time who forced Clinton into welfare reform and a balanced budget, but forgot what they were there for during the Bush administration, and took the recent drubbing they deserved. Bush did kick up the spending (prescription plan, education bill co-authored by Kennedy) and we conservatives did complain. The One ramped it into overdrive, tripled it and is looking for more.
Also, the dot-com bubble burst just before Bush took office in 2001, and we had a slump because of that, which tax cuts brought us out of. I don’t remember him whining, “It’s Clinton’s fault” about that!
