Alex is correct; the idiot politicians are too ignorant of economics to understand exactly what is happening. They defer to financial experts to tell them what to do when a crisis occurs (the same financial experts who serve their own self-interest, not the best interests of the American people, in both good and bad times). The blame to go around is very bipartisan, and there are only a small handful of congressional representatives who have the candlepower to even ask the right questions, let alone make informed decisions–and the American public is even dimmer. Things are going to get worse.
