44. reader, good point. This article won’t enlighten anyone who has already bought into conspiracy theories, it will just add a few extra mirrors to the world of mirrors they inhabit, a place where nothing can be taken at face value. In order for people to understand satire, they first have to be able to see the absurd as simply what it is, a contradiction and therefore evidence of error. For those interested in learning more, Daniel Pipes has an excellent book that examines conspiracism in detail,
“Conspiracy: How the Paranoid Style Flourishes and Where It Comes from”.
