If there is one thing we know about Sarah Palin, it’s that she has better political instincts than anyone currently in politics. Palin is thinking on a higher plane than the chatterati stuck in the NY-DC box. Don’t you think that she took into account all of the conventional wisdom sniping of her decision (i.e. “quitter,” “flake,” etc.).
She turned around a corrupt state and carried McNumbnut to the brink of the presidency ’til he imploded; all in less than 2 years. She has done for Alaska all she could do. Resting on her laurels just ain’t her style. She just leveled a critical blow to her enemies with this announcement despite handing them a short-term PR victory that will quickly blowover amid the obsession with the death of a bleached psychotic pedophile by the same dumbed-down free riders that they created.
The Media and Leftists are trying to bankrupt her for not being an ugly abortion-loving atheist airhead (i.e. Janene Garofalo). She pre-empted them by turning over the state to her hand-picked second to coast on her success for a year and a half, then win on her legacy. She is leading Alaska without all the headaches and financial burdens.
Either she is dropping out of public life or she is not going to run for any electoral office, either way, other’s opinions of her will never need to translate into votes. She is now free to going on the attack, and make people pay for their character assassination of her, and make beaux coup green doin’ it. She no longer has to fight with 2-hands tied behind her back, and the deadweight of the McCain campaign keeping her down.
She will now lead the Republican Party in a Conservative transformation that Michael Steele is seemingly unwilling to do. She can campaign around the country for Conservatives even if they are running against incumbent Republicans. Making enemies of the current GOP establishment “moderates” (i.e. losers) that have led the party to electoral defeat can only help her with Conservatives and Independents.
Eventually she will become a Republican king maker, and lead a Conservative Republican Party back to the prominence it had before the “moderates” lurched it to the left and toward the abyss. This all makes sense unless you are stuck in the conventional wisdom that a person must be rich, in elected office, or an egomaniac to wield power. Palin’s just so far ahead of her critics.
