I should like to comment on photos curently appearing in the press and on the Internet. In it Mr Obama appears as if he were engaged in a basketball scrimmage. The candidate’s face, and the tee shirt he is wearing, are prominent. The tee shirt features the letters U S M C The photos appear to have been posed so that the candidate’s face and the letters USMC are clearly identifiable. The letters USMC belong to only one organization in the world, the United States Marine Corps. Marines earn the right to display those letters, USMC, and emblems of the Corps on their person only after grueling training and demonstrated patriotism. How dare the candidate? How dare the candidate who will not display the flag on his person or stand at attention when the national anthem is played?
