MYTH: Palin quit for principled reasons.
TRUTH: Palin quit to sign a Fox News contract, which will give her a venue to spew her minority opinions and hawk her book, which will be bought in the hundreds of thousands by the Heritage Foundation.
She sees the money in the media hills, and she threw her commitments overboard to go get it. I have no problem with going after the money. I DO have a problem with lying about your approach to getting it.
MYTH: Palin is tough.
TRUTH: “Victim of outrageous attacks?” Nothing, NOTHING compared to what Hillary has endured for the last 16 years. Palin folds in 10 months. Palin isn’t tough. She’s simply an opportunist. This is just the next charade in the Palin playbook – she’s the political Paris Hilton – paid to show up and not expected to bring anything of substance along with her. Just stand there a look pretty and say something outrageous now and then, pick up her check and move on to the next faux event . . . that’s hot!
MYTH: Conservatives believe in Sarah Palin.
TRUTH: Conservatives desperately want someone who will mount a principled and believable offense. Before yesterday, Palin was the one because she was a pit bull willing and able to go toe-to-toe with established party interests and fight big government to bring about reform. Today it’s because “she pretty much accomplished everything she set out to do . . . she is serving a higher calling . . . she’s doing what’s best for Alaska.”
The right is known for weak rationales, but this takes things to a whole new level.
