In the aftermath of McCain choosing her, I realized an awful truth: women are still second class citizens in this country. And I thought that was sad enough, but there was an even more depressing truth to come: women value their own political party more than they do any notion of equality. I lost count of the number of times I read comments like “she should stay home and take care of her family.” I still remember Tina Fey’s portrayal of her as a stupid bimbo, simply because she was in the wrong political party.
I wish her well. I hope they leave her the hell alone now.
