For those of you Brits who seem offended or mildly put off by comments from American readers, try to understand that most mean well. The U.K. to many Americans is like a distance well loved relative, who we want to see thriving. When we see that relative succombing to silly, often Orwellian, forces, it pains us.
To Americans who think England is lost the only thing I can offer is that when I lived in England, the most prototypical Englishman I knew (and still know) was a man born in Tunisia of Indian extraction.
