The punch line to David Howard story was left out of this story. After David Howard resigned, there was an outcry of support saying that he shouldn’t have to resign. Were the people of Washington outrages that white person would resign who had clearly done nothing wrong? No. Were people mad because they thought there was probably a person issue between Howard and Brown. No. Were the citizens insulted that someone who doesn’t undertand the meaning of the word “niggardly” was working for the mayor? No. Howard’s defenders stood up in protest because he was gay. I was visiting Washington during this incident and it was quite amusing.
