Beleiver,
I was traveling. Sorry not too write sooner.
You, like I was, are on the very begining of your journey. Someone has you derailed because you keep looking in to your heart instead of to the author and finisher of you faith. If you think you can love God and your neibor for even a second you are deceived. If you CAN love God and your neibor why did Christ have to die.If you are pretty good most of the time and just need a little help now and then what was the cross for. Like most christians you probably assume the gospel was just for getting saved and then it’s up to you to show God how much you love him. If you took a good look at your heart you would have to admit there is nothing there to offer to a Holy God. The only good you have or ever will have is from Christ’s work on the cross.
The point is the only response we can have to the gospel is gratitude. To think that a Holy God would stoop down to us, and suffer and die to save us is overwelming. When we look to our heart, which by the way is full of sin and cholesterol, we are slapping God in the face and rejecting him.
Look to Christ. When you do you will see yourself in a whole new light. When you see the work that christ did on the cross for you then you will fall on your knees and understand how great of a thing he has done. Then you will be able to look to your neibor and help him. But if you keep looking in (like all other mystic religions) how can you look to your neibor.
