I expect that the percentage of whites who won’t vote for a black is higher than the percentage of whites who admit they won’t vote for a black (though even 8% sounds high to me), but (and don’t jump to conclusions about me, I think this is a fair question, we all have crazy aunts locked in the attic) how many whites who might possibly vote Democratic would stay home or vote Republican rather than vote for a black? That’s the meaningful statistic.
