Hate crime legislation has always bothered me for two reasons:
1. I’m a halfy. I’m half Chinese, Half White, neither of them are considered “minorities” too much now are we? Mainly because we don’t think of ourselves as being “oppressed.” Even though historically Chinese were less than slaves. We weren’t even Property! O.O!
Yet I have a feeling that hate crime legislation wouldn’t help a Chinese or “Asian” any more than it would a “white” person.
2. The whole idea that we’re making special laws based on WHY someone did something. Not what they did, oh no, but what the frack they’re thinking when they do the evil deed! O.O!
