The left wants the draft back because it was the mass-scale injustice perpetuated by the draft that animated anti-war sentiment in Vietnam. Without a draft to rail against, the only thing the left has left is their anti-Americanism which has proven insufficient to move the masses to cast off their bourgeois chains.
