Get you fact straight about Lebanon, the situation there was completely different than Iran. It was not an uprising, it was a terroist act. The state of Lebanon did not attack the USMC. USA forces where part of a UN force which remained as long as they wre told to remian by the UN.
Reagan did not “withdraw troops”. In any event, it was a terrorist act against the Marines, not a political uprising, and nothing of the scope in Iran. The French with American aid stage an air strike in retaliation and there were covert actions against Fadlallah. On the Aermican side there were air strike in Syria and multiple shellings on Islamic Revolutionary Guards areas.
Moreover, Reagan spoke out loudly against this and took steps to organize the international community against this menace. One must remember that this was one of the very first terrorist attacks by Islamicists of tis scale, and one the very first to show what sort of punch they were willing and able to deliver.
And of course, you conveniently disregard all of Reagans courageous active measure against tyranny all across the world, from the Caribbean to Latin America to E. Europe.
Stop mischaracterizing Reagan. It is morally and intellectually dishonest.
I wonder if you were even alive in those years, but let me tell you
that R. Reagan would have seized this opportunity and would have done us proud.
