Obama’s Failure of Moral Courage

Some of you are crazy (#2): Obama is not a hater. He is a nice guy and a decent enough man: he has come around on Guantonamo and some other issues internationally: but he’s a bit of a lightweight, over his head in matters that require the seasoned fortitude of a Nixon (don’t laugh–that man was tough and seasoned), the vision of a Reagan or the grounded common sense of a JFK.

Obama’s a tax and spend democrat and made no secret of it when he ran. What’s the surprise?

The rest of the Obama detractors here conveniently overlook the obvious: the GOP and its enablers MADE Obama–by its breathtaking blunders while it controlled congress from 2004 until it was thrown out in 2006; to a lesser extent, because George Bush let congress engage in a sickening spending and corruption spree. He virtually defaulted on his obligation to veto insane spending bills now and then.

While GOP leaders were trying to fund the “bridge to no where”, the US was importing thousands of Somali immigrants to the eastern US, providing an indigestable ball of issues for those states; leaving the US-Mexico border as porous as it ever was; and trying to put “courts need lightweights too” Harriet Meirs on the Supreme Court.

After screwing up royally, the GOP offered up tired old John (“I stand for nothing”)McCain as a leader. No wonder the voters fled to Obama.

The GOP handed the voters a budget built on deficits, a collapsing economy built on unrealistically low interest rates and distorted real estate building, a failed energy policy (rising oil prices, not one refinery built while the GOP controlled congress; not one nuclear power plant), and a panicked Tresury Secretary howling for billions to prevent economic collapse just before the election. You know this is true! You also know its shredded the GOP’s credibility in the worst way.

Oh..don’t let me forget: you’ve all allowed the teaching of US History to degenerate into an apology for everything the US ever did; the highlights of US hsitory boooks now are people you’ve never heard of and things that hardly mattered. Edison? Franklin? Alexander Hamilton? Airbrushed from the books in favor of Roslyn Carter and other fluff. How did this happen? Because you spent your time worrying about gays and Roe! And you’re surprised voters trend toward the spenders?

The GOP’s effort to even launch a candidate now looks like the filmed efforts to launch flying machines before the Wright brothers: Jindal can’t explain why the right is better than the left; Sanford travels to see a mistress on the state’s dime and ditches his kids on Father’s day; Palin is just not completely baked. Great.

And what do half the GOP supporters worry about? gay marriage and rolling back Roe. So while we are protected from gays being married, the US is being savaged by Pelosi’s spending and green industrial plans. And the best posters can do here is crab about Obama.

Vivo is pointed the wrong way, but he’s uncomfortably right today: Attacking Obama is not a plan. Its not a vision. Where’s the Plan? Who’s the candidate?
