One has to allow for the possibility of conscious active malice
Active malice is a good thesis.
It’s fashionable (and frequently even de riguer) inside the not so hallowed halls of academia to hate the US and what it stands for. And to hammer home into the captive audience’s collective skull all manner of phobias and isms, into the eternally tedious night. (often referred to these days as “teaching”)
However, I would quibble and say that all these subscribers to Active Malice are still and always Useful Idiots in the eyes of those whose agenda they espouse and promulgate.
