I’m hearing some pretty “accepting” opinions about Sanford . . . “It’s more sad than anything” . . . “It sounds like it was true love” . . . “He wasn’t hiding anything from his wife, his coverup was the mistake that cost him” . . . “anyone who supposedly spends 5 days crying in Argentina over an affair ‘of the heart’ is not a complete ‘bad guy’ in my books”
Now, to mimic the Republican response to EVERY other development . . . “If it had been a Democrat who had done this, the right wing media machine would have been in overdrive.”
Everybody lies. Everybody has a double standard. Sex and is transgressions respect no party lines. Is it more onerous when a Republican gets caught? Yes. Is that because they have higher values and standards? No. Is it because they claim they do? Yes.
The only thing that really matters is timing.
