Thank you for your clarification. I was under the impression that Simon Properties did own the area the Tea Party was to be held on. Now it is doubly dumb. Both a heavy handed political move against something they have no business interfering in and a poor business decision.

And now they are gaining a small nationwide boycot as well. Tea Party attendees generally have jobs and pay for thier purchases with cash, credit or debit cards. Simon Properties, do the businesses in your malls that pay rent to you appreciate you turning away potential customers? 20,000 potential customers? Do the food courts in your malls accept food stamps? there is probably a reason they don’t. Think about the people you primarily want to sell stuff to and think about your decision as your profit drops and stores leave your properties for landlords that have their business’s better interests at heart.
