Large Democratic Donors Help Shut Down July 4 Atlanta Tea Party
#173 rvastar: “show us the government program that doesn’t consist of massive waste and cost overruns….” Suggest you visit the web site of Citizens Against Government Waste. I recall getting a long list of unnecessary government programs from them about a year ago in a mail piece. And re-read my post where I state or imply opposition to all wasteful government spending.
“perhaps the reason we don’t get upset about defense spending because it’s an expenditure that lies within the framework of the Constitution……” Yes, the authority for Congress to authorize a military is contained in Article I, Section 8. What I don’t see there is the authorization for spending $300 billion in cost overruns……. As I said, the tea party advocates are just CINOs to me until such time as they get serious about ALL waste in federal government spending.
“defense spending…..I’ve already noted….is actually lower than the average of the past 50 years….” That’s a nice trick; very similar to Dick Cheney’s comment that (budget) deficits didn’t matter as they were less than a certain percentage of GDP.
If one is a consistent conservative, then one pays attention to actual expenditures and the actual cost of procurement programs, not to some sort of “pie in the sky; I’m OK, you’re OK” fantasy cooked up by the Heritage Foundation. I suspect the H.F. will still be spouting that drivel as the country slides into bankruptcy.
