Well, not that many of the readers would fully understand the business environment when it mixes with politics, but this really doesn’t seem like a big issue. You are going to find companies that service a broad range of customers, including politicians on both sides of the aisle, without reports of violations of basic business practices. The risk of a lawsuit and/or loss of business outweighs any potential gain of sharing customer data for political purposes, especially when the public outcry would hurt their candidates/party’s chances of winning an election.
Not to say there aren’t companies out there where their senior level managers and executives who lack the common sense brain cells, but I would say those are few and far between. Sen. John McCain really doesn’t have anything to worry about. Neither would Sen. Barack Obama if this was a “Rep” company.
