It is SO gratifying to see the old paradigm of gaining influence through militias and utter ruthlessness give way to the new paradigm in which the democratic process is king, and the basis of your power is your last election turnout. Even more impressively perhaps, it’s encouraging to see the paradigm of sectarian identities giving way to one where a national identity can make a unified government practical, a development which many doubted was possible.
