Obama, it seems, never confronted a critical media or a viable political opponent who could effectively quiz him on his assumptions and policy prescriptions. He waltzed through an election on essentially a “not Bush” campaign and a cloud of feel-good messages ungrounded in the real world.
That’s wholly the fault of our national media, who had so well demolished the Bush reputation by its six-year negative campaign that it felt that Mr. Teleprompter would be better because he was the opposite of Bush.
The MSM bears full responsibility for its failure to probe or question or do any due diligence on this inexperienced, slick-talking candidate. Instead the MSM went into full-propaganda mode to promote him, and maintains to this day the see-hear-speak-no-evil relationship with him. He’s their baby, and it will be a year or so yet before they figure out that the Presidency is the wrong job for on-the-job training for executives. We shall pay a heavy price for media malfeasance this time.
