This is not ordinary people stockpiling and hoarding. I visited the local range last Saturday and there was one lonely person actually shooting. It occurred to me that although peeps may have been hoarding, that probably has to be offset by a lot less ammo flying downrange these days. Even the police and military are having trouble getting training ammo to send downrange.
I looked at a new Redhawk while I was there and asked the sales guys if I could rent a .44 magnum first. They told me they have three .44 magnums in the rental case — but no .44 magnum ammo. So the short answer was, “No”. Again, if peeps are sending a lot less downrange that has to be freeing up a lot of ammo. At this point shooters can’t possibly still be hoarding because there is nothing on the shelves to hoard. And if they aren’t sending it downrange and they aren’t hoarding..? Last year it was the Pirates of Wall Street and Washington, DC reaming us (okay, DC has been reaming us unceasingly for some long time). This year it’s someone(s) connected with the ammo chain. Someone(s) is(are) making a truckload of profit by pinching down the ammo supply.
