“The midrash about the angels has God rebuking them for singing while his creatures, the Egyptians, are drowning. The angels answer by pointing to the Israelites, singing the Song of the Sea, and God responds by saying that they were saved (while the angels were not), so it’s appropriate for them to praise Him.”
The only thing I’ve found is the first sentence. There is nothing about the Jews one way or another from the angels or from god! Look it up, megillah 10b.
