Ask Dr. Helen: Does a Father-Free Home Breed Success — Or Just Power-Hungry Politicians?

Lisa Carver’s article does not include any statistics about those who grow up without fathers and those who do not. In addition, she does not distinguish between those who grow up fatherless because their mothers did not marry, those who grew up fatherless because their parents were divorced, and those who grew up fatherless because their fathers died….
I remember hearing that the children of soldiers who were killed in battle tend to grow up rather well, despite the lack of an actual father, because mom points to the picture on the wall and essentially says “make him proud of you.”
