I was at Panmunjom the day the Great Man and his wife crossed the Military Demarcation Line into north Korea as he began the epic journey during which he used his superlative negotiating skills to end the north Korean-provoked military crisis of 1994. The former President was vigorous, alert and keenly interested in the detailed briefings he received from both the American Embassy – Seoul, and the Commanding General of US Forces Korea. Jimmy Carter is a great man and an outstanding American emissary to the world.

I’m lying through my teeth about Carter’s capabilities. I was there, and Jimmy’s body was there but I’m not sure where his brain was.

Carter was a doddering, senile, closed-minded coot who apparently completely disregarded the critical information he received, and who treated with disdain and a cavalier, elitist attitude those who provided direct support in preparation for the Pyongyang trip. His inept attempts at diplomacy set the stage for the many north Korean-induced crises in the ensuing years. He brings continued dishonor and disgrace to the office he so badly damaged during his ill-managed administration.

Mr. Carter should confine his public activities to helping build houses for the poor…and nothing more.
