When you toe the party line to the extent you do, you are more apt to excuse the excesses of your compatriots. Examples abound where lefties stand silent as some member or segment crossed the line. I’m thinking Letterman and fantasies of violence here but the list is endless.
When the good people on the left have nothing to say about these events, I worry. When they minimize leftwing violence and verbal intimidation by pointing out violence and the like on the right I am reminded of arguments I had with my siblings.
I have a good exercise for you David. Get back on google and spend thirty minutes researching the five worst cases of leftist and righty violence you can find. Five each: contrast AND compare. Step outside of your skin for a moment and try to get the full flavor of the body politic. Write a little paragraph on each one. Don’t rationalize, don’t defend. Break out of the two-party paradigm and look around, man!
