I’m an African-American
Black Liberation Theology has been a part of my study since 1991. I currently am involved, professionally, in politics and community at very high levels.

I am a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

I applaud and appreciate Miss Ziman for the work that she does and view her as an ally in our common struggle. I’ve never met her.

I did not hear the remarks of Mr. Lee, my fraternity brother, first hand. I spoke to him minutes before he made them. According to what I have heard, he was out of line!

As an exponent of Black Liberation theology I must say this. The classifications that are being made are simply not accurate. They are being made of association of exerpts from Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Senator Obama, and others. I at least want to say that it was Black Liberation Theology that allowed me to appreciate the unique plight of others and indeed support their struggles, and right to self-determination.

I urge anyone to look gain more complete understanding of Black Liberation Theology, and liberation theology in general – there are many liberation theology ethos practiced. I have to believe that no reasonable person would find it offensive.

I also urge folks to find the comments of Rev. Dr. Wright in full context. I’ve been influenced by his teaching. He does rant! this is widely known. He does not hate or tolerate such behavior.

Senator Obama like ANYONE else surely is entitled to his response to racism, bigotry, and opression. I hope that he is given the respect to share his development through those stages of life honestly with us all. And that his sharing is not fell upon jaded ears and closed hearts.

Lastly, it is my hope that the opinions of the many are formed by the GOOD WORK AND RELATIONSHIPS that exist between our cultures. There is not a lot of press about it. The folks involved just do it. Miss Ziman is surely an example of this. My fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, attempts to be force in a healthy relationship between AA’s and Jews. (Please see the website www.kappaalphapsi1911.com to see a specific example!

Support who you want for president, be outraged by the comments of Mr. Lee, and do have concern for the possible implications among his peers. There are many who share his views. There are many who will mature beyond them. But most of all, allow all their righteous expressions against marginalization and oppression. See the good that happens that doesn’t get discussed and publicized. And be an advocate for that.

May this reach you in peace,
