Extreme politics seems to have become the new norm from here on out. Hell, I’m guilty of it myself when something really irks me. In seems to have really taken off under the Bush administration and with the advent of blogging. Blogs tend to be very one sided and encourage this type of extreme partisanship. However I still think the left takes the cake when it comes to nutjobs and extremists since I’ve experienced being on both sides of the ideological isle. I also believe that blogs have a huge influence on politics and the media now. Watching MSNBC especially is like visting the Daily KOS or the Huffington Post and watching FOX News can feel like visiting Michelle Malkin.com and yes Pajamas Media. To be honest I think most of the hatefulness and bitterness has been interjected by the left. When someone accuses Republicans/conservatives/right wingers of being imbred redneck ignorant Jesus freaks and Nazis I feel like shooting a similar barrage right back at them by calling them socialist communist marxist brainwashed ignorant America haters and brown shirts. Should I respond that way? No. But I feel like I can no longer be silent like Bush was and just let them hurl all kinds of hate at us. Now that they’re in power I think it’s time to do the same to them. But they’re the ones who fired the first shot in the war. And besides I think it’s healthy in a sick kind of way. It keeps politicians honest and spices up politics making it more controversial and entertaining for non-political people which will hopefully get them involved.
