This type of double talk – one in the private religious institution and one in the public eye, is typical of the Israeli-Palestinian problem.
If religious leaders have issues then don’t vent them angrily in the place where people have their spiritual antennas up at the highest level. This is where each word is a world and should not be spoken without serious thought. Not to provoke or send images of hate. Discuss it in the public forum and justify words and actions to the public.
