My test is to mirror image the speech, transpose “white” for “black” and vice-versa and then imagine it coming out of a white face instead of a black face or vice-versa. If the consequent diatribe would exile a white speaker from polite company or end their career, then it’s out of bounds. Skin color doesn’t privilege bigotry.
