What this really comes down to is putting your own on a pedastal. Jews are always crying about anti-semitism, blacks about racism, women about mysoginism, etc. What no one wants to admit is: Africans sold their own into slavery, for profit. Jews have, at one time or another, taken advantage of every given group on the planet, including their own, for financial gain. Basic feminist theory basically states that women should be paid “the same” (read: more) for doing less, because they’re women. Whites have been the 20th century’s whipping boy, so we all know their faults. Point is, ALL groups have done enough wrong in the past that claims of victimhood are increasingly irrelevant. Particularly when put forth with hate and percieved rightousness. Further, there is a human fault that keeps us needlessly defending “our own”, no matter the leagues of difference between the people perpetrating and those who defend them. Look deep enough, and every race, group, religion, country, whatever, has done evil. Enough so that blind, passionate defense of them is just silly. As far as this “speech” goes…how can it shock so much to hear a CHRISTIAN have a problem with a JEW? They’re basically calling each other liars by their very beliefs. So until we as a nation can move into the future, away from the flawed beliefs of the past, there will be these incidents. If your chosen religion matters so much that you COMPLETELY identify yourself with it, you will find severe trouble with those of opposite beliefs. See our troubles with Radical Islam.
