What I find striking is that antiSemitism among African Americans flows from the pulpit. Religious and racial hatred have combined in black churches into a combustible Nazi-like mixture. Hitlerian speech, in both style and substance, passes for godly preaching among black ministers.
Unser Umblick, Hitler called the Jews. Our misfortune. The single mysterious cause of all German ills.The Jews caused Germany to lose The First World War. Jewish ideas were undermining German morals. Jewish blood was polluting German racial purity. Jews had brought on the depression that was starving Germany. Rev. Lee has an Arian soul brothuh he can channel.
Any moviegoer knows that portrayals of African Americans on film and commercial television are complimentary to the point of challenging credulity. There are proportionately far more African American doctors, mathematicians scientists on television than there are in real life. Whites in creative professions, especially thoise working in visual media, bend over backward to show blacks in good light.
The one image of blacks apparently common across America but never seen on screen is that of a foaming-at-the-mouth black Jew-hater in a dog collar. Maybe you can fix that in your next screenplay, Roger.
