I can’t believe what I’m reading here… What happened to the idea of going to school to learn something useful?
Although I can believe the American educational system is in total disrepair. We teach math at the JC level, each year freshmen arrive for college level instruction unable to comprehend 8th grade arithmetic. Such a huge portion of the instruction time during the student’s first years are devoted to remedial course work, to the extent that it now takes 6 years to get a 4 year degree.
The nation’s schools are badly broken, and throwing money at the problem has seemingly not fixed it.
