Thank you for the data, Mr. Poole. I’ve been engaged in a discourse among Information Security professionals (InfoSec) about the lack of action by our government concerning websites that are used to spread hate and recruit new members.

I was prompted to initiate the discourse based on this news report:

To my horror, the majority of the InfoSec community sides with the government, agreeing that we shouldn’t “interfere” with our intelligence community’s efforts. People are taking action on their own precisely because our government isn’t doing enough. Extremist websites are supposedly monitored by our intelligence agencies and they are left alone to spread hate and recruit members. Many websites have operated unmolested for years, and our government just sits there, doing nothing visible to stop it. They say that they are monitoring these sites but arrests are not made, the site operators remain untouched, and terror attacks continue around the world.

I couldn’t make any sense of what’s going on, until I read this article. Now it all makes sense – our intelligence agencies have been penetrated and our government evidently allowed it to happen. At least we have the right as individuals to make a difference. Our government is failing us again, so it’s up to us to do something about it.

Thank you, Mr. Poole.
