In the old days we had actors that had something special about themselves. Gary Cooper was not Humphrey Bogart. Neither would win a beauty contest. Edward G. Robinson, Peter Lorre, there’s a whole list from the past that couldn’t even get an audition in today’s world. Instead we get interchangable pretty boys. I have to admit that I can’t tell the difference between Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.

Heston was larger than life. You knew there was going to be a special experience in any of movie of his you saw. He made you want to be like him, a hero. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to be like Tom Cruise. Khartoum needs to be seen again. It might have been made 30 years too early. Today we get Redacted and others of its ilk.
