Bravo. It makes me sick that so many praise Obama’s speech as a work of historical genius. All I heard was one justification after another for hatred and derision. To think that Senator Obama had a singular opportunity to prove that he was above racial tension and truly was dedicated to moving past it but wasted that opportunity justifying the vengeful words of Reverend Wright tells me everything I need to know about the Senator’s values and character. One cannot move beyond the inequalites of the past so long as men, black white or otherwise, in positions of power excuse hatred as “contextually understandable”.
