Some of the doctrines of various Christian groups don’t make much sense to me either. Doesn’t matter. The Bible is THE source, study it and develop your own understanding. And the inspired word of God in the Bible is universal and can be translated into any language. Not true of the Koran; Muslims insist it can only be read correctly in Arabic.
Muslim genocides? The massacre of the Beni al Quraish Jews by Mohammad himself. The estimated (from Muslim records) 100 million Hindus killed in the conquest of India. The Armenian genocide. The current slaughter in Darfur. That’s just off the top of my head.
When death and mutilation is the Allah-given penalty for apostasy (and many other offenses), every day is Islamic Inquisition Day.
Sexual and physical abuse and cover-ups? This seems to be the fate of a large majority of the foreign women who fill maid and housekeeper positions in wealthy Arab countries. Several Saudis have been prosecuted for keeping servants in virtual slavery here in the USA. You might also want to check out Dr. Nancy Kobrin’s study ‘Sheik’s New Clothes: the Psychoanalytic Roots of Islamic Suicide Terrorism’. Dr Kobrin’s study describes “barbarous family and clan dynamics in which children, both boys and girls, are routinely orally and anally raped by male relatives.”
Tell me again how wonderful Islam is.
