Well, yes, Peter, she is making assumptions. Basically, she’s saying, “We really don’t anything about these groups, but we must investigate them, to find out if they’re up to something—not that we have any evidence that they’re up to something, but they should be investigated, just in case they ARE up to something!”
Heh.
And, of course, I’m not sure what such a “no holds barred” investigation would involve. Would it involve actual evidence, or would it just be a case of going after anyone who’d ever attended a tea party, been in the military, or was known to be pro-life?
