This response from Islamic missiologist Ben Hegeman. Ben’s PhD is from Univ of Utrecht; he’s spent 17 years as a missionary to Muslims in west Africa (Benin).
It smells of the folly of David when he counted the warriors in the 12-tribes, and begs the question: ‘for whose purpose are these numbers being made up?’. There is no way 16,000 Muslims convert to Christianity per day; it is closer between 16 and 160. Knowing what we do about how apostates from Islam are treated, we would know of the consequences everywhere. We could wish this fiction was true but we’d be reading of gladiator-styled massacres if it were so.
