Showan Khurshid, I do not pin my hopes on Islamic reformists. As I said, they are the Voices In The Wilderness. They are The White Rose of the Muslim world. Too many other moderate Muslim voices, even those in the West, have been silenced by the same fear and threats of violence as we kaffirs have been subjected to, only it’s more personal and real in their communities. I’m sure that watching EU dipolmats cheering the Grand Mufti of Syria on for basically threatening the Dutch people with ‘unrest, violence and bloodshed’ over Fitna does not inspire them much to speak out.
For example the world-renowned critic of radical Islam, Dr. Wafa Sultan, had to go into hiding with her family because the radical Islamist Egyptian sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi issued a fatwa of death against her. Her heinous crime? She stated on Al-Jazeera TV that the Danish cartoonists had the right to publish the cartoons. Why is this guy still walking around free while so many like Sultan have to hide in fear of violent death?
We in the West provide considerable economic and military aid to Egypt. There should be conosiderable strings attached whereby we can pressure them to make examples of Qaradawi and others, but we do not.
It MUST be a concerted worldwide effort to hold to account Islamists like Qaradawi and the Grand Mufti of Syria by ALL of us in the West.
This Chamberlaine-like ‘diplomacy’ and capituation to the radicals of Islam must be replaced in Western governments with the iron will and words of Churchill, particularly in the EU. Otherwise, will we be required to storm the beaches of Fortress Europe a third time because of feckless diplomats and governments?
It would be a monumental effort requiring ALL of us, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, to face these modern-day Nazis down.
Not holding my breath on that one. The lesson of history, it would seem, is that we do not learn the lessons of history. Or, should I say, we always seem to have to re-learn them the hard way.
